It goes without saying that Coronavirus is the most challenging obstacle we have ever had to overcome as a business.
Shutting down was difficult – and re-opening again is going to have to be done with great care and careful thought.
However, preparations are underway and we can’t wait to welcome you all back and undo the damage done by three months of home haircuts!
Like all businesses in our sector, we have always taken hygiene seriously – however, another level is required here to make sure we do our bit to keep this virus under control.
We will be re-opening in phase three of the Scottish Government’s roadmap, which looks likely to be in mid-July.
As frustrating as it is not being able to get back sooner, the period between now and re-opening gives us time to make sure we have the safest possible environment for our barbers and clients to return to.
Here’s a summary of the changes being made and what the new ‘normal’ will look like when we open our doors again….
OUR SALON
We have undertaken a thorough review of our salon and are in the process of rearranging the salon space to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
This will include the closure of every second station to meet the minimum two-metre distance, as well as the erection of clear screens between the stations which remain operational.
With reduced salon capacity, we are looking to extend our opening hours to ensure we can offer the same number of appointments each week.
In addition, every surface will be cleaned regularly and wiped with the appropriate sanitiser between appointments.
We will ensure adequate ventilation throughout the salon with doors and windows open where possible.
OUR TEAM
All our staff have been trained to care for our customers in a safe, hygienic and professional manner and are undertaking certified Covid-19 hygiene training.
We will also have new, agreed social distancing measures in our communal staff areas.
Staff have been briefed to not attend the salon if they have any of the three recognised symptoms of Coronavirus; a high temperature, a new and persistent cough or the sudden loss of taste or smell. The same applies should anyone in their household be symptomatic.
OUR SERVICES
We have reviewed the services we offer and will be removing those which we feel are too difficult to deliver safely under the current restrictions. This means than many of the male image treatments we offer will be temporarily suspended and we await government guidance on whether beard treatments can proceed.
Our teams will wear personal protective equipment (PPE) on the salon floor and, as always, will wash their hands before and after every appointment. Where possible, PPE, will be replaced after each appointment.
CLIENT ARRIVAL & RECEPTION
When we re-open, cuts will be by appointment only and we will not be accepting walk-ins. This is the only way we can regulate the numbers in the salon.
Appointment times will be staggered, for the same reason, and clients must attend appointments alone. Parents attending with children will be asked to wait outside.
We will welcome you warmly, but no handshakes! Hand sanitiser will be available upon entry and must be used.
Our waiting area will be adapted to meet social distancing guidelines, but you will be escorted to your stylists’ area as soon as possible to avoid congestion.
All magazines and reading material will need to be removed and refreshments will be supplied in disposable cups.
WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO
We ask that you arrive on time to help us manage the number of people in the salon at any given time.
We also ask that you arrive with clean hair and wearing a face mask, as per the Scottish Government’s guidelines. If you do not have a face covering, you can buy one in the salon.
You will be asked to wash / sanitise your hands before and after the appointment, and we ask that you pay by card.
If you or anyone you live with has any of the three recognised symptoms of Coronavirus - a high temperature, a new and persistent cough or the sudden loss of taste or smell – please do not attend the salon. Contact us and we will rearrange your appointment at no extra cost.
BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT
We are expecting high demand for appointments once we have a confirmed date for re-opening.
To make sure our existing clients get the first appointments, we will be releasing details of our re-opening to our mailing list first.
If you do not receive our emails, there is a form at the foot of this page that you can register through.
Keep an eye out on our social media channels for further details and announcements – and until we meet again, take care of yourselves.
