Harry Styles has been in the news this week for his somewhat unorthodox approach to writing music.
In a tell-all interview with
Rolling Stone, the musician has opened up about sex, psychedelics, and becoming a 21st-century rock star.
One of the more headline-grabbing lines from the interview was the role psychedelic drugs played in the creation of his second album, which he says is about having sex and feeling sad (he clearly isn't doing it right).
“We’d do mushrooms, lie down on the grass, and listen to Paul McCartney’s Ram in the sunshine,” he said.
Turns out one of these mind-expanding sessions ended in him biting off part of his tongue.
But despite being mashed, having sad sex and eating half his tongue, he's still managing to churn out iconic hairstyles.
His most recent is up there with the best, a beachy bouffant masterpiece befitting a pop icon of our times.
So how do you get the look? Here's our quick guide...
WHO DOES IT SUIT
It goes without saying, but this is a style for guys with a good mane of hair.
It requires a lot of texture, for the disheveled finish, which is a great way of removing weight from thick hair.
WHAT TO ASK YOUR BARBER FOR
This style is easily attainable for most people, if you have the patience to grow your hair. It even suits those with wavier or curlier hair.
You need plenty of layers (hence the need for a good mane). The outline needs to be kept soft with no hard lines and tapered in towards the nape of the neck.
It can be adapted to suit a variety of hair-types if cut in the correct shape.
WHAT PRODUCTS TO USE
This look is all about hairdryer skills, but before you dry, add a fairly liberal spray of
Hanz De Fuko Dry Shampoo to your hair to add the volume required.
For that beachy-look, there's only one product for the job -
Hanz De Fuko's Quicksand. This by far our best-seller and is one part styling wax and one part dry shampoo. The gritty formula contains diatomaceous earth, a soft granular rock similar to pumice that sucks up excess oil on the hair and scalp.
